Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, announced today that they have acquired the US rights to release the incredibly underrated and overlooked horror-comedy, Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil. About two rednecks (Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk) who are mistaken for hillbilly killers, the movie has been hailed as being Shaun of the Dead for homicidal-redneck movies. While it is true that Tucker & Dale is one of the few films if not the only film to touch Shaun, it is a great film in its only right, comparisons or not.
This criminally underseen movie has remained in distribution limbo for years now, and thankfully, the wait is soon over. According to the press release, the film will release first on VOD platforms on August 26th, followed by a theatrical release on September 30th.
